Wedding Planning - Our Top Tips

F Monks • May 17, 2019

When it comes to your special day, there’s a lot to consider. From who to invite, what photographer to book and where to hold it, it can all seem a little overwhelming. I’ve condensed down some top tips to consider when it comes to planning your wedding and creating a happy memory that lasts a lifetime.

1. How Many Guests?
Before you settle on a venue, it’s important to understand how many guests you’ll be inviting. To make sure there’s enough room for all your nearest and dearest, it’s worth following the room of thumb and allowing for 25 to 30 square feet per guest. Event if it’s a rough estimate, some people may cancel, but it’s always worth having more space that being cramped and overcrowded.

2. The Food
Choosing the right type of food for your wedding depends on the theme and type of wedding you’re having. Make sure there are options for vegetarians or vegans (if any are attending) then decide whether it’s a formal sit-down meal, nibbles throughout the day or a serve yourself relaxed and informal buffet.

3. The Photographer
Your wedding album will be something you’ll cherish forever, so always try and book the best photographer you can find and afford. Do your research and find one that understands the type of images you’d like to achieve, and whether you want any prior engagement photo’s taken by the same photographer. Having engagement photo’s taken is a good way of getting to know, and relaxing around, your new photographer.

4. Your Budget
Weddings are expensive, there’s no getting away from it. However, having a budget in mind (no matter what it is) is important when it comes to managing your expectations. Create a spreadsheet and keep track of all the costs involved so you can see where your budget is being eaten into. Don’t be afraid of trying to barter for a better deal when it comes to your special day.
